In today’s manufacturing industry, efficiency, quality, and zero-defect production are critical for staying competitive. As production volumes grow, traditional manual practices are often pushed to their limits. We had the opportunity to work closely with OSTP, the market leader in welded stainless steel tubes and fittings, when they set out to modernize one of the most critical stages in their production: quality inspection.

Starting point: Slow and resource-intensive manual quality control

As OSTP expanded its production, it became clear that the existing manual quality control had become a bottleneck. Visual inspection by humans was slow and inefficient and always carried a risk of human error.

The goal of the project was clear: help OSTP free up their experts’ time for more value-adding tasks without compromising end-product quality in any way. It was crucial to ensure that every product leaving the line is completely defect-free—no scratches, dents, or cutting errors—and that all dimensions, such as tube angle and wall thickness, stay precisely within agreed tolerances.

Our solution: Smart machine vision and AI to secure quality

To address OSTP’s challenge, we designed and implemented an automated quality inspection solution based on machine vision and artificial intelligence.

This modern system we developed does more than just scan products for physical defects. It also performs intelligent data validation. The system automatically checks that the batch ID marked on the curved surface of the tube matches the information in OSTP’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES). This ensures end-to-end traceability and data accuracy throughout the entire chain.

Key outcomes of the collaboration

The results speak for themselves. With the solution delivered by Advian, OSTP achieved:

- Higher throughput and fewer bottlenecks: Automated inspection removed quality control as a constraint and shortened production lead times.

- Minimized human error and consistent quality: The system does not get tired or lose focus, so inspection accuracy stays at a consistently high level 24/7.

- Smarter use of skilled resources: OSTP’s employees can now focus on critical production tasks instead of routine manual inspection work, improving productivity and capacity utilization.

Summary

This project with OSTP is a strong example of how data, AI, and automation do not replace people, but instead improve work quality, flow, and reliability. By moving to intelligent quality inspection, OSTP can respond to growing demand efficiently, keep defect rates low, and consistently deliver on its promise of first-class quality—every single time.
